Machine Bed Inspector
A kitchen door manufacturer had a problem that occasionally an object remained on the machining bed
because the clearing action sometimes failed.
When the next board was placed on to the bed and the robotic tools lowered,
this resulted in damage to expensive components as the board was higher than the robot expected.
The system interfaces with the existing machine to inspect one of the four beds.
If the bed is not clear it flags an alarm and only then someone needs to intervene to clear the bed.
Previously someone had to be present at every bed clearing to ensure there were no remnant particles.
The image to the right shows the bed with a large object remaining.
The image is distorted because a wide-angle lens was required
as the camera had to be mounted under the movement of the robot.
